System Start-up
Before System Start-up – Check
Before turning the Tank Sentinel console and system power on, thoroughly check
all wiring and installation details of the system, including the following:
❐
AC power wiring and accessory wiring is in metal conduit.
❐
AC power is wired correctly in accordance with Figures 7-3a or 7-3b.
❐
All probe cables and sensor wiring is in threaded, rigid metal conduit.
❐
All conduit and junction boxes are dry and weatherproof.
❐
All conduit, and all threaded fittings are sealed with pipe dope.
❐
All Intrinsically Safe (I.S.) probe and sensor wiring are within conduit/pull boxes and
are separate from all other (non-I.S.) wiring.
❐
EYS Seal fittings are installed in all probe and sensor circuit conduits, and are
sealed with epoxy.
❐
The proper level probe cables have been installed per TABLE 7-3.
❐
Level probes are wired in accordance with Figures 7-4 & 7-5.
❐
Leak detection sensors have been installed per their manuals.
❐
Cable compression gland fittings (cord grips) are correctly installed, sealed, and
tightened on all junction boxes and riser caps.
❐
Thread sealant or pipe dope was used on all threaded conduit, pipe joints, and
compression fittings producing a watertight seal.
❐
Riser pipes are installed and sealed in accordance with this manual.
❐
Probes have been installed in accordance with this manual and have been adjusted
to be 1/4” (6 mm) off the bottom of the tank.
❐
All safety covers/shields have been reinstalled in the console.
❐
All probe and sensor riser caps are in place and latched/tightened.
Power Up
After the system has been thoroughly wired and checked-out you may apply power.
Turn the Tank Sentinel system circuit breaker ON at the Electrical Power Panel and
move switch SW1 within the console to the ON position (Ref: Figure 7-3a). The
display will show a start-up message for several seconds and then will indicate the
system software version number. These displays will appear as follows:
