Special
considerations
for
Windows
Vista
base
operating-system
modules
The
Windows
Vista
base
operating-system
module
is
the
core
element
of
an
Ultra-Portable
Image
that
can
be
deployed
and
installed
on
Lenovo
branded
and
non-Lenovo
branded
computers,
regardless
of
hardware
configurations.
However,
whenever
a
map
contains
a
Windows
Vista
base
operating-system
module,
that
map
also
must
contain
the
following
modules:
v
An
appropriate
Primary
NTFS
Partition
partitioning
module
for
the
operating
system
being
installed
v
The
ImageUltra
Builder
4.0
Windows
Vista
Customizations
module
v
The
ImageUltra
Builder
4.0
Windows
Vista
Servicing
Tools
Note:
The
Sysprep
module
is
used
in
conjunction
with
building
an
Ultra-Portable
Image
for
Windows
Vista,
and
needs
to
be
placed
in
the
C:/SWWORK/SYSPREP
folder.
v
An
UNATTEND.XML
module
for
Windows
Vista
for
the
operating
system
and
language
being
installed
These
modules
are
designed
to
be
used
in
conjunction
with
Windows
Vista
base
operating-system
modules
only.
Do
not
attempt
to
use
these
modules
in
conjunction
with
any
other
type
of
base
operating-system
module.
Primary
NTFS
Partition
partitioning
module
The
ImageUltra
Builder
program
provides
four
variations
of
the
Primary
NTFS
Partition
partitioning
modules:
v
Windows
XP
Pro
Primary
Partition
v
Windows
XP
Home
Primary
Partition
v
Windows
2000
Primary
Partition
v
Windows
Vista
Primary
Partition
Primary
NTFS
Partition
partitioning
modules
are
responsible
for
creating
the
primary
partition,
formatting
the
primary
partition,
and
setting
the
primary
partition
as
bootable
in
preparation
for
the
operating
system
installation.
These
modules
are
provided
as
part
of
the
ImageUltra
Builder
program
and
are
ready
to
use
without
modification.
Because
each
of
these
partitioning
modules
is
unique
to
a
specific
operating
system,
but
has
no
dependency
on
language,
insert
the
appropriate
Primary
NTFS
Partition
partitioning
module
under
the
menu
item
used
to
select
the
operating
system.
If
your
map
is
designed
to
install
only
one
type
of
operating
system
(Windows
XP
Home,
Windows
XP
Professional,
Windows
2000,
or
Windows
Vista)
and
all
installations
are
done
using
I386
base
operating-system
modules,
you
can
insert
the
appropriate
Primary
NTFS
Partition
partitioning
module
under
the
root
entry.
ImageUltra
Customizations
module
The
ImageUltra
Customizations
module
contains
the
ImageUltra
Customization
program,
which
provides
the
hooks
required
for
the
Ultra-Portable
Images
to
make
use
of
applications
and
device
drivers
defined
in
maps.
The
ImageUltra
Customizations
module
is
provided
as
part
of
the
ImageUltra
Builder
program
and
is
ready
to
use
without
modification.
Because
the
ImageUltra
Customizations
module
is
operating-system
independent
and
language
independent,
you
have
a
lot
of
latitude
as
to
where
you
can
insert
