Starting a Local
Management
Session
To start a local management session, perform the following procedure:
1. Connect one end of a straight-through RS232 cable with a DB-9
connector to the RS232 Terminal Port on the switch.

2. Connect the other end of the cable to an RS-232 port on a terminal or
PC with a terminal emulator program.
3. Configure the terminal or terminal emulator program as follows:
❑ Baud rate: 1200 bps to 115200 bps (default 9600; see Note below)
❑ Data bits: 8
❑ Parity: None
❑ Stop bits: 1
❑ Flow control: None
