Local Management Session
You establish a local management session with an AT-8024, AT-8024GB,
or ATY-8026FC Fast Ethernet Switch by connecting a terminal or a PC
with a terminal emulator program to the RS232 Terminal port on the
front panel of the switch, using a straight-through RS-232 cable. This
type of management session is referred to as “local” because you must
be physically close to the switch, such as in the wiring closet where the
switch is located.
Once the session is started, you will see a menu from which you can
make selections to configure and monitor the switch. You can configure
all of a switch’s operating parameters from a local management session.
