Cleaning or Replacing Air Filters
In order to operate in all environmental conditions, the PDR 200 and PAC208/216
require clean, unrestricted internal air flow. For the PDR200, three internal fans pull
air into the chassis through the front panel and around the disk drive caddy. The air
then flows across the boards and is exhausted out of the chassis through the rear panel.
For the PAC208/216, a single internal fan pulls air into the chassis through the front
panel. Air flows across the boards and power supply and is exhausted out through the
rear panel and right side panel.
Air filtration is provided by filters attached to the inside of the front panel. The
PDR 200 contains two filters and the PAC208/216 one. Check these air filters
frequently for dust and grime buildup. Much of the buildup of dust and lint can be
removed through the front panel with a portable vacuum cleaner. However, frequent
cleaning ensures adequate, clean cooling air to the equipment.
Removing the PDR200 Filters
Removal of the air filters for cleaning or replacement requires removal of the front
panel, but does not require removal of the PDR200 from the rack. Front panel
removal requires a Torx tool with T15 and T10 tips. To remove the PDR200 air
filters:
1. Turn PDR200 power Off and disconnect the power cord.
2. Loosen the front panel screw which secures the PDR200 in the rack. See Figure 5-1.

3. Slide the PDR 200 forward enough to access the screws which secure both the handles
to the front panel and the front panel to the chassis. Be careful not to exert stress on
any cables connected to the rear panel.
