Floppy Disk Drive
The Floppy Disk Drive mounts to a plate attached to the left side of the chassis in the
Media Disk Drive area. Floppy Disk Drive removal and replacement does not require
removal of the chassis from the rack or removal of the rear cover. Removal and
replacement does require removal of the fan tray, media disk drives, and disk drive
tray.
To remove the Floppy Disk Drive:
1. Perform the disk drive tray removal procedure (page 6-22).
2. Perform the Fan Tray removal procedure, except, at the Distribution board,
disconnect the cable from the Fan board (page 6-18).
3. Being careful to support the plate, use the Torx tool with the T10 tip to remove the
four screws which attach the plate to the side of the chassis (1 in Figure 6-13).
4. Disconnect the remaining cables from the Distribution board (2 in Figure 6-13).
5. Move the rear of the plate back and into the chassis to clear the floppy drive flange
through the front panel slot and then lift the plate up and out of the chassis (3 in
Figure 6-13). Place on a flat, level, static-proof surface with the drive and board up.
6. Use the small Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws which secure the floppy drive
to the plate (4 in Figure 6-13).
To replace the Floppy Disk Drive:
1. Use the small Phillips screwdriver to attach the floppy drive to the plate with the
screws previously removed (Figure 6-13).
2. Guide the plate into the chassis so that the floppy drive flange clears the slot in the
chassis and use the Torx tool with the T10 tip to attach the plate to the side of the
chassis with the screws previously removed.
3. Reconnect all cables but the Fan board cable to the Distribution board.
4. Perform the Fan Tray reinstallation procedure (page 6-19).
5. Reconnect the cable from the Fan board to the Distribution Board.
6. Perform the disk drive tray reinstallation procedure (page 6-22).
