Figure 6-9. Removal of a Media Disk Drive
To replace a media disk drive:
CAUTION: Media disk drives are very sensitive to shock and vibration. To prevent
damage, do not drop or bang a drive when handling. Do not stack drives upon each
other.
CAUTION: Media disk drives are also very sensitive to electrostatic discharge
(ESD), particularly the SCSI connector. To prevent damage, take ESD precautions
when handling the drives. Also, the drives should only be transported and stored in
the ESD bags they were shipped in.
1. Drive mounting holes in the caddie are numbered 6 and 7. Position the drive in the
caddie so that the number 6 holes align with the screw holes in the drive (Figure 6-9).
2. Use the Torx tool with the T10 tip to mount the new drive to the drive caddie with the
four screws (two on each side) previously removed.
3. Slide the drive caddie into the drive tray and firmly press down to connect the drive
connector to the SCSI Backplane.
4. Use the Torx tool with the T10 tip to replace the front cover, being sure to use all the
screws previously removed.
5. Slide the chassis back in the chassis and tighten the rack retaining screw (Figure 6-3,
page 6-6).
6. Reconnect the power cord and turn power On.
