Message: Microcode download to disk x.yy.zz failed

Using the Disk Utility, an attempt to download new firmware to the x.yy.zz drive
could not be accomplished. Insure that the download file specified for the drive
type is correct and re-try. Try rebooting. If error persists, replace drive, check
Profile.log for SCSI related errors during download and notify Grass Valley
Group of these messages.

Message: x.yy.zz: Unrecognized disk drive type

The x.yy.zz drive fails to report a known drive type. Check cables and connectors,
especially if the drive is in an external chassis, re-connect or replace. If failure
persists, replace drive.

Profile.log SCSI Error Messages

The Profile.log starts each time the i960 is initialized and data is always being
appended to the file. Start at the end of the file to read the most recent data and work
backwards to the latest time and date entry (i.e., the current log started). Below are
examples of SCSI bus error messages which may appear in the Profile.log file.

Message: A.03.00 drNcr720ScsiFullTransact: msgQReceive () timed out!

This error says that SCSI drive A3 is not responding and hung the SCSI buses.
Look for the first occurrence of the error since the current log started. Similar
entries may then appear after that for every disk on the A bus. Scroll the Log file
for previous SCSI errors. Usually, the first drive error since the log started is the
drive causing the other errors. Power the Profile down, pull the suspected drive
and reboot. If error does not reappear, replace the drive, otherwise, replace
MEDR.

Message: C.05.00 drNcr720ScsiHandler: Couldn’t handle 720 non-SCRIPTinterrupt error

Again, another disk drive could be causing this error. Scroll the Log file for
previous drive errors, not necessarily on the same disk. Usually the first drive
error after the current log started is the drive causing the this error. Power the
Profile down, pull the suspected drive and reboot. If error does not reappear,
replace the drive, otherwise, replace MEDR.

Message: A.04.00 drNcr720ScsiFullTransact: msgQReceive () failed to start motor

The A4 drive is not spinning up. Power down the PDR when it gets warm. If drive
then spins up, schedule backup to replace the drive. If drive doesn’t spin up when
the PDR is warm, replace drive.

Message:

C.08.00 drNcr720HandleNonSIRInterrupt: phase mismatch error -- will reset

SCSI bus

Message: A.09.00 drNcr720HandleNonSIRInterrupt: sym720 illegal instruction detected

Both of the above errors are usually caused by cable problems. Swap A and C bus
cables going to external drives. If the message stays the same, check the cable for
bent or broken connector pins, replace as necessary. If the message now shows
the same error, but the SCSI bus address for the device on the swapped cable (e.g.,
C:08 becomes A:08), Power the Profile down, pull the suspected drive and
reboot. If error does not reappear, replace the drive, otherwise, replace MEDR.
Note that SCSI addresses above 6 are external to the PDR200.
