Video Problems
Once the SCSI bus has been eliminated as a source of a problem, video problems arise
from the video board(s), the video router on the Motherboard, or software. If the
causes and solutions given below do not help, run the board diagnostics.
Symptom: No playback
Use the video cross-points in VdrPanel as an excellent troubleshooting aid for video
problems. Re-routing video in or out of different JPEG decoders and boards can
usually isolate the problem fairly quickly.
If you notice a signal problem coming out of the Profile, you must first determine if
the material was recorded that way. Look at the E-E signal. If the output is good and
the input is of the correct format, try swapping the JPEG channels between the MEDR
and the SEDR. The MEDR processes JPEG 1 and 2 video and the SEDR processes
JPEG 3 and 4 video.
To load and play PDR200 internal test clips:
1. From the C:/profile/diag/testclips directory in an MS-DOS window type
fromnt
2. At the prompt, enter one of the following:
cavmtrxn.vid
(Component Analog Video NTSC test)
cavmtrxp.vid
(Component Analog Video PAL test)
mekey.vid
(Mix Effects Key test)
ntscmtrx.vid
(NTSC Test pattern)
palmtrx.vid
(PAL Test pattern)
3. Use the VdrPanel to select one of the above and load and play in loop mode through
different JPEGs or outputs.
If everything looks good, the problem is most likely a video input board, Mother
Board, or the incoming signal itself. Run Board diagnostics to confirm or eliminate
the video input board(s) and the Mother Board. If they pass, check the incoming
signal.
Symptom: No video or video is not as the expected.
Use VdrPanel to check video crosspoints, correct as necessary.
Check cabling, replace as necessary.
