External Fan

The two external fans at the rear of the chassis exhaust air from the power supply.
Removal and replacement of one of these fans does not require removal of the chassis
from the rack or removal of any covers. Both fans and the fan cover are attached to
the rear of the chassis by eight long screws. These screws go into the fan cover,
through a corner of each fan assembly, and then into screw holes in the chassis. The
fans receive power through a connector on a cable routed from the Fan board on the
fan tray.

To remove an external fan:

1. Turn PDR200 power Off and disconnect the power cord.

2. While supporting the cover and fans, use a Torx tool with the T15 tip to remove the

screws which secure the cover and fans to the chassis (Figure 6-16).

3. Disconnect the power cable from the appropriate fan.

To replace an external fan:

1. Connect the power cable to the appropriate fan.

2. While supporting the cover and fans, use a Torx tool with the T15 tip to thread the

screws previously removed through the cover and fans into the chassis screw holes
(Figure 6-16).

3. Reconnect the power cord and turn PDR200 power On.
