Media Disk Drive
Each media disk drive mounts in its own drive caddie which slides into the drive tray
mounted in the chassis. A screw through the cover, which is removed when the cover
is removed, maintains caddie stability. Removal and replacement of a drive caddie
and media disk drive does not require removal of the drive tray or removal of the
chassis from the rack, but does require removal of the front cover.
NOTE: If you are removing more than one media disk drive at a time and intend to
reinstall all of them, mark the locations of each drive to insure replacement in the
same location. Figure 6-9 shows locations.
To remove a media disk drive:
1. Turn PDR200 power Off and disconnect the power cord.
2. Loosen the chassis rack retaining screw (Figure 6-3, page 6-6) and, taking care to not
stress rear panel cables, slide the chassis out of the rack far enough to access the front
cover mounting screws.
3. Use the Torx tool with the T10 tip to remove the front cover mounting screws and set
the cover aside (Figure 6-5, page 6-8).
CAUTION: Media disk drives are very sensitive to shock and vibration. To prevent
damage, do not drop or bang a drive when handling. Do not stack drives upon each
other.
CAUTION: Media disk drives are also very sensitive to electrostatic discharge
(ESD), particularly the SCSI connector. To prevent damage, take ESD precautions
when handling the drives. Also, when returning them, the drives should only be
transported and stored in the ESD bags they were shipped in.
4. Grasp the top of the disk drive caddie to be removed and pull straight up and out of
the chassis and place on a flat, level, static-proof surface with the caddie side up (1 in
Figure 6-9).
5. Use the Torx tool with the T10 tip to remove the four screws (two on each side) which
mount the drive to the caddie (2 and 3 in Figure 6-9).
