Audio Signal Processing Board
The Audio Signal Processing Board (ASPB) is a 7-inch high EISA compatible board
which occupies a slot in the Profile card cage. Interface to the Profile is through edge
board connectors and a DB-80 connector provides AES I/O to the chassis rear panel.
The ASPB accepts and simultaneously processes 16 AES inputs and outputs at up to
4 simultaneous clock rates. The ASPB consists of:
• an Audio DSP sub-system of five SHARC 21062 processors
• 8 transmit/receive pairs (16 inputs/16 outputs)
• 32 channel embedded audio I/O processing ports
• a 27 MHz video reference clock control
• On-board memory of up to 256K-by-32 dual-port RAM and 128K-by-32 global
SRAM
The functional capability of the ASPB includes:
• Digital audio
• Audio processing and storage
• Clocking and synchronization
• API/Profile protocol extensions
• VdrPanel support
Digital I/O
The ASPB provides the following digital audio support:
- Up to 32 channels AES/EBU from up to four embedded audio sources
- 16 AES inputs
- 16 AES outputs
AES Inputs and Outputs are accessible through the 80-pin rear panel connector.
- Monitor output
- AES external reference input
Audio Processing and Storage
Audio processing and storage characteristics of the ASPB are:
• All audio is internally processed in floating point at 48KHz
• Storage resolution is selectable in either 16- or 20-bits at 48KHz
