Red hat enterprise linux, Enabling lun support in netware, Enterprise – Dell TL2000 User Manual
Page 240: Linux, Enabling, Support, Netware

Red
Hat
Enterprise
Linux
RHEL
doesn’t
automatically
probe
all
LUNs
on
SCSI
devices.
The
symptom
shows
LUN
0,
which
would
be
the
drive,
but
not
the
loader.
1.
Type
#cat
/proc/scsi/scsi
.
Attached
devices:
Host:
scsi0
Channel:
00
Id:
06
Lun:
00
Vendor:
CERTANCE
Model:
ULTRIUM
2
Rev:
1826
Type:
Sequential-Access
ANSI
SCSI
revision:
03
2.
You
will
need
to
add
the
following
to
/etc/modules.conf
options
scsi_mod
max_scsi_luns=255
Note:
In
RHEL
4,
it
is
max_luns=255
3.
Once
that’s
added,
you
will
have
to
rebuild
the
initrd
and
reboot
the
server.
There
is
a
way
to
test
this
before
editing
the
files
and
rebooting,
but
there’s
too
much
of
a
risk
of
taking
down
other
SCSI
devices
in
the
process.
Rebuilding
the
initrd
will
be
the
tricky
part.
You
have
to
know
exactly
which
kernel
version
you
want
to
use
to
do
this
properly.
You
can
find
out
the
kernel
version
by
using
the
uname
command.
#uname
-r
2.4.9-e.38
Note:
There
is
a
list
of
known
kernel
versions
on
the
Red
Hat
Enterprise
Linux
page.
4.
So,
given
the
version
is
2.4.9-e.38
#
cp
/boot/initrd-2.4.9-e.38.img
/boot/initrd-2.4.9-e.38.img.bak
#
mkinitrd
-f
-v
/boot/initrd-2.4.9-e.38.img
2.4.9-e.38
This
should
give
some
output,
then
go
to
a
new
prompt.
If
it
gives
any
errors,
check
the
syntax
you
put
into
/etc/modules.conf
or
contact
someone
knowledgeable
with
Linux.
5.
If
successful,
the
server
WILL
need
to
be
rebooted.
Once
it
comes
back
up,
check
/proc/scsi/scsi
again.
#cat
/proc/scsi/scsi
