iMac G5, 20-inch Troubleshooting - 9 Amendment: iMac G5 Repair Extension Program for
Replacement Part
The following part is eligible for replacement under this repair extension program:
• 661-3625 Power Supply, iMac G5 20”, Ambient Light Sensor
Note : Effective today, this power supply replacement will be excluded from Service
Excellence measurement. In addition, the iMac G5 power supply is no longer available as
a Do-It-Yourself (DIY) part.
Special CompTIA Codes
Apple has the following CompTIA Code to use for repairs on iMac products eligible for
coverage under the iMac G5 REP for Video and Power Issues:
• Use CompTIA Code 660: iMac G5 MLB/Power Supply REP when replacing a
power supply, whether or not the iMac is covered by warranty or an extended
service agreement European IMCs
Repair Strategy
Required service parts for this program are available so that certified technicians may
create a repair at an Apple service provider location.
Asia-Pacific, Canada, Europe (except IMCs), Japan, United States:
Warranty Repairs : If an iMac product eligible for this program is currently covered by
an Apple warranty or extended service agreement, create the repair in the usual
manner. However, it is extremely important that you select the CompTIA Code
created for this program (see Special CompTIA Code section) for the repair.
Out-of-Warranty Repairs: Until further notice, Apple asks that service providers in
all regions that use GSX select the “Mark for Review” checkbox on all out-of-warranty
repairs created for iMac products eligible for coverage under this repair extension
program. In addition, it is extremely important that you select the CompTIA Code
created for this program (see Special CompTIA Code section) for the repair.

For the repair to be covered, Mac Genii should make the following selections in
GCRM to ensure the iMac G5 Power Supply Issues REP CompTIA code is assigned
to the in-store repair:
• Service Type: In-store Repair
• Reason for Service: Power Supply Failure
• Component: Power
• Issue: iMac G5 (ALS) 20”/Power Supply REP
• CompTIA Modifier: select most appropriate
