DOS Utility Programs and Device Drivers
A subset of the most commonly used DOS commands is stored on the C:
drive of the Allegro. A full set of the DOS commands is located on the
Allegro Utilities CD-ROM.
You can access information about the DOS commands using one of the
following methods:
- On your PC, the Lynx File Management Utility has a MS-DOS Help
function. Select Help/MS-DOS Help to run this function. The Help is
a DOS program that runs in a DOS window. Use your mouse to click
on a topic of interest. A description of the command or function is
shown as well as the correct syntax and an example of how to use it.
- MS-DOS Help is also located on the Allegro. From FileScout, select
DOS/Help to run the program. Use the arrow keys to select a topic of
interest and press

- On the Allegro there is also the “fasthelp” command. If you want to
know the syntax of a particular command, at the DOS prompt type in
the name of the command, a space, and then /?. The syntax of the
command is displayed on the screen. Use the screen panning function
to view the information.

DOS Commands and Functions
A list of the DOS command and functions that are available to you
follows. These commands may be transferred to the C: drive on the
Allegro using Lynx (refer to Section 5, Utility Programs for details).

The function is factory installed on the C:\DOS directory. All of
the files in the DOS directory have been marked as “read only” to
prevent accidental erasure.
+ The function is an internal DOS function contained in the command
processor program (command.com).
