Pinging a Remote System
This procedure instructs the switch to ping a node on your network. This
procedure is useful in determining whether an active link exists between
the switch and another network device. Note the following before
performing the procedure:
The switch must have an IP address and subnet mask.
The device to be pinged by the switch must be a member of the
Default VLAN. It must be communicating with the switch through an
untagged or tagged port of the Default VLAN.
To instruct the switch to ping a network device, perform the following
procedure:
1. From the Main Menu, type T to select Switch Tools.
The Switch Tools Configuration Menu is shown in Figure 9 on page 46.
2. From the Switch Tools Configuration Menu, type P to select Ping
Execution.
The Ping Execution Menu is shown in Figure 11.
