When you define a field (in Format Entry) the printer displays a
prompt for each required value. The following lists show the
prompts (the word in bold) for each field type. Fill in the Format
Record as you define fields.

D e f i n i n g a P r o m p t F i e l d

To define a prompt field, you need to know

the field type (Prompt, Fix, Line, Merge, Sub-field, Graphic, or
Test)

the prompt you want the operator to see at data entry

the horizontal and vertical location for the field

which direction the top of field will be

the type of field (text or bar code)

which field font you want to use

the font magnification (size)

which direction the top of character will be within the field

the print color (black or white-on-black)

whether this is a cost code field

whether this is a price field

whether this is a time or date field

whether the field length is fixed or variable

the number of characters you want in the field

whether certain field positions will auto-increment or
decrement

whether a check digit will be used. How will the check digit
be generated (operator entry or automatic)?
