If you use a check digit with incrementing or decrementing fields,
the check digit is recalculated each time the field increments or
decrements.
Amount of inc/dec [0-999]: _ _ _
Enter the amount by which you want the field to increment and
press e . Incrementing or decrementing begins at the
right-most digit in the field.

To define a fixed field, you’ll need to know the answers to the
same options, except there is no operator prompt.

A fixed data field contains information that remains constant. The
operator does not see a prompt for a fixed data field during data
entry, but the contents of the field print automatically when the
batch is printed.
To define a fixed data field, type F and press e .
Note the following about fixed fields.

If you do not enter characters at the Enter any fixed
characters: prompt, your data will print incorrectly during
batch printing.
◆
For time or date fields, the current time or date is used.
◆
Price fields are not available as fixed fields.
