To define a merged field, you’ll need to know the same
information as for a prompt field (except the prompt). You also
need to know
◆
the field number of the source field
◆
whether to use the source data before or after formatting
◆
the characters you want to use from the SRC (source) field
◆
the characters’ positions in the DST (destination) field
◆
whether to use a character for padding the data, and if so,
whether to pad from the left or right
◆
the pad character you want to use.

Merged fields and sub-fields let you copy information from a
source field and print it in another location on the format. Type a
number from 1-63 for the field you want to copy the information
from and press e . This number must be less than the field
you are now working on.
