Format Entry Prompt:
Enter any fixed characters:
(underlines for field length)
Values:
Up to the maximum number of characters
specified for the field. You may also press
e only to skip this prompt.
Fixed characters appear in the data field and remain constant.
You can enter fixed characters for any field except price, date or
time. The operator cannot change fixed characters during data
entry. To insert a b (reserved space) in fixed data, use the S +
T key.
Fixed characters appear to the operator at data entry with a
prompt. The operator enters the remaining data. The
combination of fixed characters and entered characters then
prints on the supply.
Example:
The vendor number 44218 always appears in a UPC-A bar
code for a group of products to be marked. To save the
operator time, enter 44218 at the Fixed characters? prompt.
At data entry, the operator sees this number and enters the
remaining digits (indicated by the underscores) for a specific
item from that vendor.

When defining fixed characters for most fields, you can enter any
type of characters. For example, even if you define a field as
numeric, you can enter alpha characters as the fixed characters.
The exceptions are UPC, EAN or MSI bar code fields. The data
for these fields must always be numeric.
