• The Note Repeat / Arp engine detects and makes use of any changes in the pressure you apply
on every pad you hold (Polyphonic Aftertouch). This allows you to generate arpeggios and
repeated notes with varying velocities.
• The output of the Note Repeat / Arp engine is recorded into the Pattern Editor.
• The Note Repeat / Arp parameters cannot be modulated or automated.
• You can use Note Repeat and Arp even if the transport is not running: In this case, the Note
Repeat / Arp engine will use its own central clock. This clock will be reset as soon as you start
the playback.
To access the arpeggiator:

button.

Press Button 1 to pin the Arp mode.

MASCHINE+ switches to Keyboard mode and the pads illuminate. The brightly lit pads
represent the root notes of the scale.

Press any number of pads to hear an arpeggio.

The Sound of the pad is repeatedly triggered at the rate set by Knob 3 at the bottom of the left
display.
• To create interesting rhythms for the Arp sequence, use the Rate, Sequence, and Swing
parameters of the
RHYTHM
section. For more information, see the
RHYTHM
section in the
table below.
• To change the range of available notes for the Arp sequence, as well as their velocity and length,
use the
OTHER
parameters: Octaves, Dynamic, and Gate. For more information, see the
OTHER
parameter descriptions in the table below.
• To latch the playback of the Arp sequence, use the
Hold
parameter. For more information, see
the
Hold
description in the table below.
The following table describes each of the parameters in Arp mode.

LOCK
(Button 2)
Keeps the Arp feature enabled even when you leave Arp mode. For
example, this can be useful to adjust the chord settings, switch to another
Pattern, adjust Plug-in parameters, etc., while keeping arpeggios running.
If Arp is locked, when you switch to another mode the

button stays dimly lit to remind you that Arp is on.
You can also use the shortcut

HOLD
(Button 3)
Allows the notes played by the arpeggiator to be latched. This means the
pads can be released and the arpeggiated notes will continue to play.
Press Button 3 (
HOLD
) again to stop the arpeggiator.
GATE RESET
(Button 4)
Press this button at any time to reset the
GATE
parameter to its default
value of
100%
.
Button 5–8
Selects between four different presets, even during playing. Each preset
can store particular values for the
TYPE
;
RATE
,
UNIT
,
SEQUENCE
, and
OCTAVES
parameters at the bottom of the displays (see below). The rate
currently assigned to each button is indicated below on the display along
with the
UNIT
value (“
T
” for triplet values or “
D
” for dotted values). The
selected preset is highlighted.
