Chapter 2: Installing the Cache Backup Products

Installing the LSIiBBU07 Unit

MegaRAID SAS 9280-8e

To connect a 12-in. cable between a LSIiBBU08 unit on a remote mount board and a board-to-board cable
adapter card on the RAID controller, follow the steps in

Section 2.4.6, Connecting an LSIiBBU07 Unit from a

.

WARNING

The battery used in this device might present a fire or chemical burn
hazard if mistreated. Do not disassemble, heat above 100 °C, or
incinerate. Dispose of used battery correctly. Keep away from children.

NOTE

The procedures in this guide describe how to install the LSIiBBU07 unit
on the MegaRAID SAS 8880EM2 RAID controller. You can connect the
LSIiBBU07 unit in the same way to the other MegaRAID SAS RAID
controllers that use this unit. For information about the BBU
connectors on the RAID controllers, see the sections for the other iBBU
units in this guide, or refer to the 6Gb/s MegaRAID SAS RAID Controllers
User Guide
.

NOTE

To increase the life of the battery for the LSIiBBU07 unit, the battery is
not fully charged. Band Gap charging keeps the maximum battery
charge within a band comfortably above the time requirement instead
of keeping the battery charged to the maximum level. However, when
a learn cycle is required, the battery is fully charged because a learn
cycle starts only after the battery is fully charged.

Front View and Rear View of the LSIiBBU07 Unit

The LSIiBBU07 unit mounts directly to the RAID controller using a small board-to-board connector known as
a daughtercard.

The following figure displays the front view and the rear view of the card. (The front view is the side that you can see
after you install the LSIiBBU07 unit on the RAID controller.) Note that this unit combines a battery pack with
a daughtercard.
