5. The best practice when entering or leaving MultiStream Mode is to perform the
following procedures:
A. ENTERING INTO MULTISTREAM MODE
Step
Task
1
Use the W X arrow keys to select the CONFIG: Intf menu.
2
Select any combination of GbE interface operation (GBE1 / J5 | DATA
port, GBE2 / J6 |DATA port, or Optical / J7 | OPTICAL port), and ensure
that both interface slots (PIIC1 and PIIC2) are either not installed
(NONE) or not active (Off).
3
Configure the modem settings for MultiStream Mode operation:
• Select the Tx parameters for the carrier that will act as the aggregate
carrier of all interface types to be transmitted.
• Choose the proper ModCods, Pilots, Symbol Rate, etc. to ensure that
your total Tx uplink can accommodate all of the interface types that
you intend to multiplex together.
4
Once you have completed Step 2, you will know your total Tx data rate
that the modem can accommodate, This Tx data rate must be able to
support the aggregate interface type services you plan to transmit.
5
Return to the CONFIG: Intf menu to enable one or both of the PIIC data
interface traffic types.
6
If the PIIC interface type(s) requires more Tx data rate capacity than what
had been configured for the modem, the CONFIG: Intf type selection for
the PIIC interface(s) will reject the PIIC settings executed in Step 5. Return
to Step 1 to make the necessary corrections.
B. EXITING OUT OF MULTISTREAM MODE
Step
Task
1
Use the W X arrow keys to select the CONFIG: Intf menu.
2
FIRST, disable both interface slots (PIIC1 and PIIC2), ensuring that both
are either not active (Off), or not installed (NONE).
3
NEXT, disable all GbE interfaces, ensuring that all three are either not
active (Off) or, as it applies to the J7 | OPTICAL port SFP module, not
installed (NONE).
4
Enable a single PIIC interface, or any combination of the GbE interfaces.
5
Use the W X arrow keys to select the CONFIG: Tx → Data → Tx Data
Rate menu. There, confirm that the Tx Data Rate MIN_DR variable is
displayed as 000000.000.
