Figure 74 - Turbo Timer Output Setup Parameters

Air Temp - The turbo timer keeps the engine on while the air temperature is above this
temperature.

Coolant Temp - The turbo timer keeps the engine on while the coolant temperature is above this
temperature.

Max Time - The turbo timer will turn the engine off when this time is exceeded after the ignition is
turned off.

Rev Limit - The engine speed is limited to this RPM when the turbo timer is operating with the
ignition off.

VANOS Advance and VANOS Retard

This feature allows the operation of the variable valve timing system developed by BMW called VANOS.
This feature acts to control two solenoids on the camshaft, one solenoid advances the camshaft, the other
retards the camshaft timing. For control of the VANOS system two PWM outputs and two digital timed
inputs must be used for each camshaft controlled. One PWM will control the advance solenoid, the other
PWM will control the retard solenoid, one digital timed input will read the fixed 8 pulse signal (VANOS Ref
signal) on the camshaft, the other digital timed input will read the variable (moving) 8 pulse signal (VANOS
Inlet Cam signal) on the camshaft.

VCT Frequency - The frequency that the VANOS solenoid should operate at, typically xxx hertz.
