Firmware Update
This option should not be used unless you are instructed to update your firmware to fix a problem, or you
have purchased an upgrade that required firmware to be updated. Under no circumstances should
firmware be updated to a more recent firmware just for the sake of using the latest firmware.
Updating your ECU’s firmware
Turn on your ECU, but do not start your engine. Start your laptop with Halwin software and go online.
Check your firmware version and note the version information.

Before going any further, save the map that is currently in the ECU, this map will later be re-loaded into
the ECU after the update is complete.
Select the Firmware Update option. After you have selected the Firmware Update option, you will be
presented with the following dialog window:

Click on the button to the right of the filename to select the binary firmware file (this file will have a .bin file
extension) that you will use to update your ECU.
Make sure that your engine is not running. After the correct file appears in the ‘Firmware File’ field, press
the Next button. The ECU will reboot before Halwin begins to write to the ECU. As the firmware is being
written, a status message will inform you of what percentage of firmware writing is complete.
