1D: A synonym for the MH algorithm.
2D: A synonym for the MR algorithm.
CSID Called Subscriber Identifier:
ECM Error Correction Mode: Allows the receiving fax machine to request
retransmission of corrupt parts of the fax image. Not all fax machines support
ECM.
FoIP Fax over Internet Protocol:
G.711 µ-law: Audio compression algorithm designed for encoding human
speech.
G.729: Audio compression algorithm designed for encoding human speech at
low bit rates.
IP Internet Protocol: Standard protocol for most data networks.
JBIG Joint Bi-Level Image Experts Group: An advanced fax image compression
algorithm. Many fax machines do not support this standard, but it provides
significantly better compression than MH, MR and MMR.
MH Modified Huffman: The most basic fax image compression algorithm.
