Voice over IP
Licensing: Voice over IP requires the
IPFax
feature.
Voice over IP (VoIP) is a general term for placing telephone calls over data
networks. The NET SatisFAXtion fax server uses Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)
and T.38 (International Telecommunication Union publication T.38) protocol to
set up calls, and to transmit fax data respectively.
2.2.2.1
A Note on Fax Server Ports versus Media Gateway Ports
The ports you see in NET SatisFAXtion are “virtual” ports. They do not
correspond with the physical ports on the media gateway. Outbound ports are
allocated lowest port number to highest (ascending), and inbound ports are
allocated from highest to lowest (descending).
