The following table describes the components of the Default Gateway List section.

Description
Component
The network interface to which the default gateway is associated.
Interface
The IP address associated with the server that routes all packets destined for a remote
host. A blank Default Gateway indicates that no default gateway exists.
NOTE:
The Default Gateway address cannot be a broadcast or network address as
determined by the IP addresses on the system.
Default Gateway
Displays if the interface is used for outgoing connections initiated by the SKM appli-
ance. You can select one interface only. If this gateway fails for any reason, all out-
going connections initiated by the SKM appliance will fail.

Click Edit to modify the default gateway settings.
Edit
Click Clear Gateway to remove a default gateway.

Click Use for Outgoing Connections to send outgoing packets through the selected
interface.

Examples of Default Gateway Configurations
The following examples illustrate the possible configurations. In each example, Ethernet #1 is bound
to 172.17.7.16 and Ethernet #2 is bound to 10.20.41.16.

All responses to incoming packets leave from 172.17.7.1 - except the responses to incoming packets
from the 10.20.41.0 addresses (the local subnet of Ethernet #2). Those responses leave from the
Ethernet #2 interface. All connections initiated by the SKM appliance leave from 172.17.7.1.
