Note: The operating system resets the Bluetooth connection when the
data collector is powered on. If the data collector is powered off while
using Bluetooth, you should wait at least 10 seconds after powering it
back on before using any function where Bluetooth communication
will occur. This is to allow enough time for the Bluetooth connection
to reset.
Warning: It is not recommended that Bluetooth communication be
used while logging GPS data to use for post processing. This scenario
requires constant and reliable communications between the data
collector and the receiver, which can only occur when using a
communication cable.
Bluetooth can only be used when the peripheral hardware has
Bluetooth built in and is explicitly supported by Survey Pro.
The necessary Bluetooth hardware and drivers are pre-installed on
data collectors with built-in Bluetooth, but if you are using a data
collector with a removable Socket™ Bluetooth Compact Flash card,
its drivers must first be installed on the data collector before
Bluetooth can be used.
You will find the Socket Bluetooth drivers on the latest TDS Works
CD in the \Recon directory. Read the document, Socket Bluetooth
and Recon V1.0 carefully for instructions on installing the drivers.
Bluetooth with a Removable Bluetooth Adaptor
This section describes how to configure Bluetooth and add Bluetooth
devices on data collectors that use a removable Socket™ Bluetooth
Compact Flash card. If your data collector has built-in Bluetooth,
refer to Page 325.
Activate the Virtual COM Port
Once the Socket Bluetooth drivers are installed, you should confirm
that the Bluetooth COM Port is enabled from the Bluetooth
Connection Manager. This utility allows you to set up and manage all
of your Bluetooth connections.
