Note: Depending on the model, your server might look slightly different from the illustrations in this topic.

To install or replace a system fan, do the following:

1. Remove the server cover.

Note: The system fans are hot-swap and you can replace a failing system fan without turning off
the server.

2. Do one of the following:

• If you are installing a system fan, grasp the top of the dummy fan with your index finger and thumb

and then lift the dummy fan out of the server.

• If you are replacing a system fan, do the following:

a. View the system fan fault LED to locate the failing system fan. See “System fan fault LEDs” on

page 49.
