Before you begin, print all the related instructions or ensure that you can view the PDF version on another
computer for reference.

Note: The following procedure is based on the scenario that the riser card is installed on the riser card
bracket 1. The procedure is similar for riser card installed on the riser card bracket 2.

To replace the riser card, do the following:

1. Remove all media from the drives and turn off all attached devices and the server. Then, disconnect all

power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to the server.

2. Prepare your server. See “Removing or extending the server from the rack cabinet” on page 69.

3. Remove the server cover. See “Removing the server cover” on page 69.

4. Loosen the screw that secures the riser card assembly. Then, grasp the assembly by its edges and

carefully lift it straight up and off the chassis.

5. If there is any PCIe card installed on the riser card, record the cable connections first. Then, disconnect

all cables from the cards and completely remove the riser card assembly out of the chassis.

6. Remove the PCIe cards that are installed on the riser card. See “Removing a PCIe card from the riser

card assembly” on page 98.
