For products where licensing information is managed by Systems Insight Manager, the Assigning
Licenses
page appears. Select one or more systems from this list and click Assign License Now. The
page refreshes and shows the updated license status. Select additional systems to make more assignments,
or reselect License Manager to refresh the page.
For products that require the license to be delivered to the actual target, the License Assignment
Results
table appears and reports the status of the assignment process for each target. There might
be a delay in sending license data to some targets. You can continue with other Systems Insight Manager
activities during the license assignment process.
5. To remove an assigned license, reselect Manage Licenses. The assigned licenses appear. Select the
license category you want to remove, and then select Un-Assign Licenses.
Licensing standalone HP Insight Control server migration
While no longer offered standalone after the 6.0 release, if you still have Insight Server Migration licenses
available, you can continue to use those to perform migrations to servers that are not licensed for Insight
Control.
When the destination server is not licensed for Insight Control, one Insight Control Server Migration license
key is required for each successful P2P, P2V, V2P, or V2V migration. Standalone Insight Control server
migration licenses, unlike Insight Control licenses, do not need to be deployed to the destination server
separately.
Insight Control server migration consumes Insight Control server migration licenses after a successful migration.
Insight Control server migration licensing keys
To use SMP-P2P or SMP 2. x Subscription Keys in Insight Control server migration, you must obtain a new
license key from the HP Password Center. Before calling, have the following information available:

Product number
•
Product name
•
Number of licenses remaining
•
Number of days remaining
To determine the number of licenses or days remaining prior to migrating, choose one of the following
procedures:
•
SMP-P2P keys:
Launch the P2P application station. 1.

3. From the license key list, you can view the information.

SMP 2. x keys:
Log in to Insight Control. 1.

Select Deploy
→license manager→Insight Control server migration.
3. Click Manage Licenses.

Licensing requirements
•
You can only perform a P2P or V2P migration if the destination server is licensed for HP Insight Control
server migration or if at least one Insight Server Migration license for X2P is available.
•
You can only perform a P2V or V2V migration if the destination server is licensed for Insight Control
or if at least one Insight Server Migration license for X2V is available.
Licensing options
The licensing key list on the License page reports the numbers and types of standalone Insight Server
Migration license keys available and enables you to enter new license keys.
