Host-to-Switcher Instructions
The multiswitcher accepts SIS commands through its serial ports and/or its LAN
port. SIS commands consist of one or more characters per command field. They do
not require any special characters to begin or end the command character sequence.
Each multiswitcher response to an SIS command ends with a carriage return and
a line feed (CR/LF = ]), which signals the end of the response character string. A
string is one or more characters.
Switcher Error Responses
When the ISM 824 receives an SIS command and determines that it is valid,
it performs the command and sends a response to the host device. If the
multiswitcher is unable to perform the command because the command is invalid
or contains invalid parameters, the multiswitcher returns an error response to the
host. The error response codes are:
E01 — Invalid input number
E09 — Invalid preset number
E12 — Invalid output number
E13 — Invalid parameter
E14 — Not valid for this configuration
E17 — Illegal command for this signal type
E22 — Busy
E24 — Privilege violation
E25 — Device not present
E26 — Maximum number of connections exceeded
E27 — Invalid event number
E28 — Bad filename/file not found
E30 — Hardware failure (followed by colon (:) and descriptor #
E31 — Attempt to break port pass-thru when not set
Using the Command/Response Tables
The command/response table begins on the next page. Except for the gain and
attenuation settings and the filter settings, upper or lowercase letters are acceptable
in the command field. The table below shows the hexadecimal equivalent of each
ASCII command.

sensitive.
