Chapter 6 – Color Workflow
•
To warm up the printer, use any media to print at least 25 duplex sheets of any
four-color test job.
•
Print a reference job and use the same media and screen type on which you will
print the final job.
•
Prepare the calibration pad to measure the calibration charts. If a calibration pad
is not available, set a white media, at least 200 gsm, or two sheets of lighter
paper, on the surface. Read the calibration chart on this surface.
•
Set the Spire CX260 emulation method to the method that you will use to print
the customer job (
DeviceLink).
The Calibration Process
The calibration process consists of the following steps (explained in detail in the
next few sections):
1.
Calibrate the Eye-One spectrophotometer, see Eye-One Spectrophotometer
Calibration on page 125.
2.
Load the paper you are going to use for printing in the Xerox DocuColor 242/
252/260 printer/copier.
3.
In the Spire CX260 software, from the
Tools menu, select Calibration.
4. Click
Calibrate to run the Color Calibration Wizard, and to create a calibration
table.
5.
Follow the Color Calibration Wizard steps.
6.
Measure the calibration chart.
7.
When the calibration is complete, print the job using the calibration table, see
Printing a Job with a Calibration Table on page 137.
Preparing the Eye-One Spectrophotometer
The Eye-One spectrophotometer is a high-speed color measurement instrument
that reports dot data.
Perform the following steps before first time use of the Eye-One spectrophotometer:
•
Familiarize yourself with the Eye-One Spectrophotometer Operator’s Manual.
•
Connect the Eye-One Spectrophotometer.
•
Calibrate the Eye-One Spectrophotometer.
Note: Make sure that you set the screen type to the one that you are going
to use to print the job—for example,
200C
.
Tip: Including the specific paper name and screen method in the calibration
table file name helps you identify the appropriate calibration table in the job
setup.
You can also use the Eye-One Spectrophotometer Tutorial to learn how to
use the Eye-One spectrophotometer correctly. To access the tutorial,
select
