Configure a user defined rule according to the description in Table 14-4 .

Item Description
Rule Name Type a name for the rule.
Rule Description Type a description for the rule.
User Defined
Signature
Specify the signature of the attack. The options include By Fixed String and By
Regular Expression.
To get help information about regular expression, click the help link after By Regular
Expression.
Figure 14-7 shows how to use regular expression.
Protocol Select a protocol on which the user defined signature is based.
Protocol Direction Select a protocol direction.
Category Select the type of the rule.
Level
Select a severity level for the attack that matches the rule.
The options include Critical, Major, Minor, and Warning.
Attack target Type targets of the attack that matches the rule.
Solution Type solution information for the attack that matches the rule.
Status Enable or disable the rule.
Action Set Select the action set for the attack that matches the rule.
