Overview

To increase service redirecting throughput, you can bundle multiple Ethernet ports into a logical link,
called a service loopback group. Member ports in a service loopback group are called service
loopback ports. A service loopback group must contain at least one member port.

Similar to the Ethernet link aggregation function, a service loopback group can increase bandwidth and
implement load sharing.

For more information about Ethernet link aggregation, see Ethernet Link Aggregation Configuration in
the Layer 2 - LAN Switching Configuration Guide.

For example, you can assign ports GigabitEthernet 2/0/1, GigabitEthernet 2/0/2, and GigabitEthernet
2/0/3 on the same device to a service loopback group, and then they become one logical link. The
bandwidth of this logical link equals the total bandwidth of these three ports. In addition, traffic of the
service loopback group can be load shared across all three ports.

Service Types of Service Loopback Groups

There are five types of service loopback groups:

IPv6, supporting IPv6 unicast traffic

IPv6 multicast, supporting IPv6 multicast traffic

Tunnel, supporting unicast tunnel traffic

Multicast tunnel, supporting multicast tunnel traffic

MPLS, supporting MPLS traffic

The current device only supports two service loopback group types: Tunnel and Multicast tunnel.
