IMPORTANT: The startup type for the NetVue services is set to Automatic (Delayed
Start). This causes NetVue to delay launching its services until after all Windows
services are running.

1.2.8

Server System Requirements

The NetVue Server hardware is a DELL Power Edge R210. Comtech EF Data (CEFD) pre-installs and
pre-configures the included Skyline software. For detailed specifications, see Section 1.8, Hardware.

A NetVue Server requires 1U rack space. It has one power connector. Two Ethernet interfaces, Device
LAN and Network LAN, have two IP addresses in non-redundant architecture.

See Figure 1-10 for the rear view of the NetVue server.

The Device LAN interfaces with the devices managed by the NetVue server.

The Network LAN interfaces with the NetVue clients and has access to the Internet.

Two Dell 1U servers connect on the same Ethernet domain for 1:1 redundancy operation.

A cluster configuration allows an unlimited number of NetVue servers. Each NetVue server may be
independently 1:1 redundant. See Figure 1-4 and Figure 1-5 for possible configurations of the NetVue
server.

Visio drawings

The NetVue UI uses elements created with Microsoft Visio. Examples include Network Views, Circuits
Views and Device Views.

1.3.2

Several default drawings in Microsoft Visio format are included on the NetVue server. Create new Visio
drawings, or copy the existing drawings and change the copies to suit your needs.
