IMPORTANT
The SLSNMPAgent process listens for Get and Set messages using the same port as
the Windows SNMP service, by default.
If both must run at the same time, change the port for either the SLSNMPAgent or the
Windows SNMP service.
A.3 Configuring the SNMP manager
A.3.1 In System Display
1. Go to the top menu and choose Advanced ‣ SNMP Managers.
2. In the title bar of the SNMP Managers section, click New.
3. On the first page of the New SNMP Manager Wizard, click Next.
4. On the second page, specify these properties, then click Next.
•
Name
The name of the SNMP manager (HP OpenView, IBM Tivoli Netcool, etc.).
•
IP Address
The IP address of the SNMP manager; i.e., the address to which the SNMP traps are sent.
•
Community String
The community string to be used in all SNMP traps toward the SNMP manager you are configuring.
•
SNMP Version
The SNMP version: SNMPv1, or the default SNMPv2.
5. To cause the trap receiver to acknowledge every SNMP packet sent by NetVue, select Inform messages.
Then, specify two settings:

Resend
After sending an Inform message, NetVue waits for an acknowledgement for this period of time.
