Appendix B. Operational
Considerations
B.1 NetVue operational considerations
This appendix addresses some additional considerations for the installation and day-to-day operation of
the NetVue IMS.
•
Disk / Storage Considerations
•
Management and Archive Bandwidth Considerations
•
Device and Management Overhead
B.1.1 Disk / Storage considerations
The NetVue is configured with two partitions:
•
Main Partition C: and contents (0.5 TB):
o
Operating System
o
NetVue Executable
•
Statistics Partition D: and contents (1.0 TB):
o
Events
o
Alarms
o
Trending Information
o
Etc.
Because all networks are different, we are considering a worst case scenario: a large network with the
NetVue server collecting about 10 Gigabytes per day.
NetVue collects the statistics during the configured sample period, and then compresses (aggregates) at
the end of a week. At the end of 30 days (one month), the weekly statistics are then compressed a
second time.
