Configuring VLANs
Configuring VLANs (CLI)
This section provides information about the commands you use to create and
configure VLANs. For more information about the commands, see the

Creating a VLAN
Beginning in Privileged EXEC mode, use the following commands to
configure a VLAN and associate a name with the VLAN.

Enter global configuration mode.
vlan {
vlan-id |vlan-
range}
Create a new VLAN or a range of VLANs and enter the
interface configuration mode for the specified VLAN or
VLAN range.
•
vlan-id—A valid VLAN IDs (Range: 2–4093).
•
vlan-range — A list of valid VLAN IDs to be added. List
separate, non-consecutive VLAN IDs separated by
commas (without spaces); use a hyphen to designate a
range of IDs. (Range: 2–4093)
NOTE:
You can also create with this command in VLAN
Database mode . To enter VLAN Database mode, use the vlan
database command in Global Configuration mode.

Add a name to the specified VLAN.
string — Comment or description to help identify a
specific VLAN (Range: 1–32 characters).
CTRL + Z
Exit to Privileged EXEC mode.
show vlan [id
vlan-id |
name
vlan-name]
Display VLAN information.

vlan-id — A valid VLAN ID. (Range: 1–4093)
•
vlan-name — A valid VLAN name string. (Range: 1–32
characters)
