1.4 Protocol variants and operating modes (definition)
Protocol variants Field bus module type SPC200−COM−DN2 offers two protocol
variants (can be set with WinPISA).
ć DeviceNet IO": If you set this protocol variant, you can
start programs or NC record numbers as with a local I/O
module. The scope of functions therefore corresponds to
the predecessor module type SPC200−COM−CAN.
} Compare section 5.1.
ć DeviceNet profile": This protocol variant offers the full
scope of functions of the DeviceNet I/O and also further
functions, e.Ăg. downloading actual positions, specifying
digital nominal values, reading and writing registers.

Operating modes The SPC200 offers, as with control via an I/O module, two
operating modes even via the field bus:
ć Start/Stop mode:
Here you can start or stop programs which are saved in
the SPC200. The SPC200 can then carry out the positionĆ
ing tasks independently.
ć Record Select mode:
The complete sequence control is managed by the PLC/
IPC. Up to 1000 NC records can be accessed via the field
bus module.
The operating mode can only be set via WinPISA. Detailed
information can be found in the system manual for the
SPC200 (compare documentation overview Tab. 0/2).
