AT-S39 Management Software Switch Modes
Understanding AT-S39 management software switch modes is essential
in understanding VLANs. The AT-S39 software for Fast Ethernet Switches
support two switch modes:
❑ Tagged - the Fast Ethernet Switch supports port-based and
tagged VLANs(see User-Configured VLANs on page 121) or
multiple VLAN configuration (see Multiple VLAN Mode Overview
on page 132).
To skip the VLAN overviews and proceed to VLAN procedures, go
to Configuring User-Created VLANs on page 137 or Multiple
VLAN Configuration on page 156.
❑ Basic - the Fast Ethernet Switch operates in VLAN pass-through
mode and frames are forwarded based solely on MAC addresses.
The following two sections describe these switch modes and their
relation to VLAN configuration.
