Parabolic Curve

Curve - Vertical
The Parabolic Curve screen provides detailed information on a
vertical parabolic curve when certain parts of the curve are known.
Known
: The
PVC
or
PVI
radio button is selected to define
which point on the curve is known.
One of the following options must be selected from the
dropdown list:
•
Curve Length
: is selected when the length of the
curve is known. When selected the following must
also be specified:
o
Curve length
: is the length of the vertical curve
(the horizontal distance between the PVC and
PVT).
•
Point On Curve
: is selected when the location of
another point on the curve is known. When selected,
the following must also be specified.
o
Station
: is the station where the other point is located on the
curve.
o
Elevation
: is the elevation of the other point.
•
Hi/Lo Elevation
: is selected when the high or low point for the
curve is known. When selected, the following must also be
specified.
o
Hi/Lo Elevation
: is the elevation of the curve at the location
where the tangent is zero (the crest of the curve).
Note: When the begin and end grades are both positive or both
negative, the high / low elevation will not be located between the PVC
and PVT.
PVC

: is the station for the specified point.
