Chapter 4. Operations Status Interface
4-2
707157-001
Initially the status panel will display the status of the FICON and ESCON interface(s).
On the right side of the status panel is displayed a summary of CUs that have been
configured. Each CU displayed may have one or more XCA portals (subchannels)
associated with it. A Green status for a CU indicates that all XCAs associated with it are
active. From this status panel you are able to drill into the CUs to view the individual
XCA subchannels, as well as display the TN3270 Host Circuits and SNA PU2 gateway
circuits. A summary of the number of active Host Circuits and Gateway Circuits are
included in the display.
Each Host Circuit corresponds to an SNA PU2 (that communicates to a VTAM switched
PU definition, and are used to provide an SNA interface for TN3270 clients which
function as LUs.
The Gateway Circuit status reflects the number of active PUs that are communicating
through the CNA-8000. Since some PUs can dynamically connect through the CNA-
8000, the total number does not necessarily reflect the total number of PUs that may
typically connect through the platform, but is a total of those that are statically configured
and those that are dynamically active through the platform.
A description of the status fields is as follows:
ESCON/FICON Adapter Status Field Descriptions
CU #: This is an index number based on your configuration of the interface. Each CU is
assigned an index number when you initially configure them. Index numbers are related
to the ESCON or FICON interface that they are associated with according to the
following:
ESCON 0:
0-F
ESCON 1:
10-1F
FICON 0:
20-2F
FICON 1:
30-3F
FICON 2:
40-4F
FICON 3:
50-5F
Name: This is the alphanumeric name assigned to the CU in the configuration (hopefully
a useful description of the CU).
PU Type: Currently all PU types are XCA (External Communication Adapter).
