Creating a Recovery CD
A Recovery CD can be created for the CNA-8000 that contains information to restore the
hard drive image that was in place at the time the Recovery CD was created. A Recovery
CD differs from making a Restore Point in several ways. A Restore Point takes a
snapshot of the CNA-8000 Server software and Configuration, while the Recovery CD
takes a snapshot of the contents the entire Hard Drive including partitioning data for the
Hard Drive itself. A Recovery CD can be used to restore a CNA-8000 Hard Drive to its
former state even if you are starting with a new Hard Drive. A Recovery CD consists of
one or more physical CDs (not DVDs, even though the CNA-8000 has a DVD drive
installed on it). A Recovery CD is only intended to be used on the platform that it was
created on, and contains information to prevent its use on another platform.
To create a Recovery CD, insert a good quality CD into the CD/DVD drive, and from the
Maintenance Menu select the [Recovery CD] button.
Depending on the amount of data present on the Hard Drive, you may need one or more
additional CDs. Remember that everything present on the Hard Drive will be copied to
the CD(s) including System Dump files, Restore Points, all Configuration files, Logs and
Traces. If an additional CD is required, you will be prompted during the creation process
when to insert it. You may prefer to eliminate files that are not needed prior to creating
the Recovery CD to reduce the required storage size.
