USING DEDICATED MAPS WITH FRAME RELAY
After packet endpoints are created, they must be connected to a physical
port. You can connect the endpoints using either the
D EDICATED M AP or the
D IAL P LAN (see also, Chapter 11, Dial Plan). D EDICATED M APS “nail” the
endpoints to a service, and the D IAL P LAN associates a phone number with
the endpoint.
For packet links created within the P ACKET M ANAGER M ENU , use D EDICATED
M APS (see Figure 10-2) to connect packet endpoints to a physical port. Nail
the endpoint to a service by selecting D EDICATED M APS and picking a phys-
ical slot ( FROM S LT ) and a port ( P ORT /PEP ) for the data. Assign the DS0s
( F ROM C ONFIG ), and then set the service ( TO S LT /S ) to P KT E NDPT or P KT
V OICE .

A CTIVATE M AP Write security:3; Read security:5
Activates a dedicated map—automatically or manually. You can have up to
five different dedicated maps, each with an optionally specified name.
A UTO Automatically activates a particular dedicated map at the time and day
specified in
A CTIVATE T IME (see Activate Time on page 10-6).
M APS 1 THROUGH 5 Allows you to manually activate a specific dedicated map.
C URRENT M AP Read security: 5
Displays the name of the currently active dedicated map (read-only).
