Total Access 1200 Quad IMA Module with Subtending

TURN-UP STEPS

To install the module, perform the following steps:

1. After unpacking the unit, inspect it for damage. If damage is noted, file a claim with

the carrier, and then contact ADTRAN. For further information, refer to Warranty.

NOTE: ADTRAN recommends that all power be removed from the Total Access 1200

prior to removing or replacing the network module.

2. Loosen screws on the previous module and remove it, if so equipped.
3. Insert the new module in the slots on the left and right, and slide it securely into place.
4. Tighten the two screws to secure the module to the chassis.
5. Insert the T1 and Ethernet cables into the appropriate jacks on the front of the module.
6. Restore power to the Total Access 1200
7. If subtending additional units, power the modules first, and then connect the modules

with non-crossover Category 5 cables as show in the illustration below.

DESCRIPTION

The Quad IMA Module with Subtending terminates up to 4 T1s (DSX-1 or DS1) and
performs Inverse Multiplexing over ATM (IMA) for up to 4 T1 IMA links in the

ADTRAN

®

Total Access 1200

®

.

It provides up to 24 ports of ADSL+POTS toward

customers. It can subtend up to three additional Total Access 1200 chassis.
The following features are supported on the module:

Performs Inverse Multiplexing over ATM (IMA) for up to 4 T1 IMA links

Supports one to four T1s (both short and long haul DSX-1 and DS1)

Supports one IMA group

Supports a maximum of 100 ms differential link delay in IMA

Can subtend up to three additional Total Access 1200 chassis

The Type (DS1, DSX-1) and Line Build Out (0–133’ to 533–655’) are provisionable

to accommodate both short and long haul T1s

Accepts RJ-48 type connectors transporting the T1 signals

Operates over an extended temperature range –40°C to +70°C

Front panel indication of T1/E1 status

Front access to all connections

Offers provisioning and alarm monitoring via SNMP and TL1 through the local craft

interface and ATM in-band management channel

Offers in-band management for master and up to three subtended slaves through a

single IP address

Interoperable with any ATM DS1 IMA device that is built to current IMA

specifications which includes the Total Access 3000 IMA Aggregation System

Meets NEBS Level 3, GR–1089–CORE and UL 60950

CONNECTIONS

The module plugs directly into the Total Access 1200 (19 or 23-inch) rack-mounted
chassis. Each T1 is connected to the front of the module through a RJ-48 plug.

Subtended modules/chassis are connected with non-crossover Category 5 cables.

Storage –40°C to +85°C

Relative humidity to 95%, noncondensing
