Close the hard drive drawer. You will hear it click into place when it is securely closed. The
fans will return to normal speed when both drawers are properly closed.
WARNING!
Pinch hazard—Keep hands out of front and rear of chassis when closing hard
drive drawers.

To prevent improper cooling and thermal damage, do not operate the disk
enclosure for an extended period of time with the drawer open.

Replacing a hot-plug hard disk in a 12–disk array (HP B6200)
This section is not relevant for HP StoreOnce 6500 Backup systems which have disk enclosures,
not disk arrays.
1.
Identify the disk that has failed as described in
“Identifying a failed disk” (page 162)
.
NOTE:
Use the Beacon LED to identify the physical disk in the storage controller or expansion
shelves.

Remove the disk.
•
Press the hard disk carrier button (1) to release the ejector lever.
•
Pull out the disk carrier handle (2) and slide the hard drive assembly (3) out of the drive
bay. Be sure to support the drive when pulling it out of the cage.

Replace the failed disk with the new disk.
Push the hard drive assembly (1) into the drive bay until it stops and press the HDD carrier
latch (2) inward until it clicks.
