HCD

Hardware Configuration Definition.

HDD

Hard disk drive.

HORCM_CMD

A section of the RAID Manager instance configuration file that defines the disk devices used as
command devices by RAID Manager to communicate with the disk array.

HORCM_DEV

A section of the RAID Manager instance configuration file that describes the physical volumes
corresponding to the paired volume names.

HORCM_INST

A section of the RAID Manager instance configuration file that defines how RAID Manager groups
link to remote RAID Manager instances.

HORCM_INSTP

A section of the RAID Manager instance configuration file that defines the same information as
the HORCM_INST section, but also allows you to specify the path ID of the Continuous Access
software link for each device group.

HORCM_LDEV

A section of the RAID Manager instance configuration file that specifies stable LDEV and serial
numbers of physical volumes that correspond to paired logical volume names.

HORCM_MON

A section of the RAID Manager instance configuration file that describes the host name or IP
address, the port number, and the paired volume error monitoring interval of the local host.

IMS

Information management system.

In-Band Method

This method is transferring a command from the client or the server to the command device of
the DKC via Fibre and executing a RAID Manager operation instruction.

instance

A running copy of RAID Manager. Instances can be local or remote. Multiple instances can run
on the same host.

instance
configuration file

A RAID Manager file that defines the link between a volume and a RAID Manager instance. This
file consists of five sections: HORCM_MON, HORCM_CMD, HORCM_DEV, HORCM_LDEV, and
HORCM_INST.

IOCDS

I/O control data set. A mainframe definition of information related to I/O and peripheral devices.

IPS

Installation performance specification.

LCP

Local control port.

LDKC

Logical disk controller.

local disk

A disk in the local array. Sometimes refers to a disk in a local host.

local instance

The RAID Manager instance currently being configured or the instance to which commands are
issued.

LUN

Logical unit number. A LUN results from mapping a logical unit number, port ID, and LDEV ID to
a RAID group. The size of the LUN is determined by the emulation mode of the LDEV and the
number of LDEVs associated with the LUN.

LUSE

Logical Unit Size Expansion. The LUSE feature is available when the HP StorageWorks LUN
Manager product is installed, and allows a LUN, normally associated with only a single LDEV,
to be associated with 1 to 36 LDEVs. Essentially, LUSE makes it possible for applications to access
a single large pool of storage.

M-VOL

Main volume.

MCU

Main control unit.

MPB

MSL to MicroProcessor Blade

MSCS

Microsoft Cluster Service.

MU

Mirror unit.

MVS

Multiple virtual storage.

OFC

Open Fibre Control.

OPEN-

x

A general term describing any of the supported OPEN emulation modes (for example, OPEN-E).
There are two types of OPEN-x devices: legacy OPEN-x devices with a fixed size (such as OPEN-3,
OPEN-8, OPEN-9, and OPEN-E), and OPEN-V, which has a variable size and is a CVS-based
volume.

ORM

Online Read Margin
