RINCIPLES
Some basic principles are applicable when you want to place media in the
timeline:
•
The media you place in the timeline needs to have a 10-frames duration at
least.
•
You can place a whole clip (XT clip, XT growing clip, protect media), as well as
a portion of a clip or record train.
o
When you add a clip (with the initial IN and OUT points) or a portion of it
(with mark IN and mark OUT points) to the timeline, the guardbands and the
non-selected portions remain available in the timeline for further editing.
o
When you add a portion of a record train to the timeline, a clip is
automatically created with the guardbands defined in the Clip Creation
settings.
•
When material from a clip is placed in the timeline:
o
If the necessary material to create the timeline element is available in the clip
or record train, it is taken over from the clip or record train.
o
If the necessary material to create the timeline element is not available in the
record train, an error message is displayed in the Message Panel and the
material cannot be placed into the timeline.
•
When material from a train is placed in the timeline:
o
If the necessary material to create the timeline element is available, it is
taken over from the record train.
o
If the necessary material to create the timeline element is not available, an
error message is displayed in the Message Panel and the material cannot be
placed into the timeline.
•
There are many different ways to place media in a timeline. The main criteria to
take into account are the following:
o
how you want the clip to be included in the timeline
o
where you want the clip to be included in the timeline
o
which tracks of the clip should be included in the timeline
